Great weather, an early start and hiking with some amazing Peeps was our experience on Sunday. We counted over 25 people and 1 youngster. The Lion’s Head hike has certain characteristics that make it unique and really fun. When the sun is out one tends to meet lots of people along the way and they are always friendly.
Perhaps nature does that to us. Lion’s Head is also fairly easy with the “chains” adding a bit of difficulty. It was great to see the Peeps encourage each other along and assist one another up the trickier sections.
As we got to the peak the sun started to appear. Perfect timing!!! To see the rays force their way through the clouds was memorable and almost immediately we totally forgot the early morning yawns, sore legs and chilly breeze.
As usual strangers became friends, pictures were taken (alot), the “All-Famous, Legendary, Phenomenal AMEN Breakfast” was consumed, ideas were hatched, deep discussions took place and someone forgot their bag at the top.
The hikes have become less about hiking but more a platform to fellowship outside of the normal church setting. Humans are social creatures and Christians are no different. Christ would spend time with the disciples outside the city walls and “chat” about all sorts of topics. We should look to Christ as an example and allow ourselves to grow spiritually in nature. As someone mentioned on Sunday “I can hear myself think.”
Thanks to all of you who came out and made this one memorable.
Join us for the next hike on the 28th July 2013.
