It is probably a word you have heard before, pronounced in various ways. “Evangelism” or even “Evangelizing.” The one that strikes a sweet chord in my heart’s tune is “Evangeliving.” You ask, what is that? That is what evangelism becomes when we keep evangelizing until it becomes evangeliving- a lifestyle of sharing the Good News of our Redemption Story.
In 2013- these opportunities were sent our way by the Great Evangelist. We went to the streets to share the Good News. Trains were filled with young people sharing the wondrous story of our salvation. Hospital patients wore smiles on their faces when young people penetrated through hospital doors and swiftly ran through those corridors to hold the hands of God’s children in pain. In some places, we simply smiled and whispered to the ears, “God Loves You.” This is the lifestyle we want to embrace in the Power of the Holy Spirit. The 2013 Conference gave us opportunities to keep doing the evangeliving that we have been called to.
Currently, we are running the Legacy Project since the Conference and we have testimonies that have been shared by many of God’s children. This project comprises of recorded stories and testimonies in numerous artistic ways- of how this evangeliving lifestyle is impacting many. We know that we not only want to “Live the Legacy of Christ each moment of our lives, but to also Leave the Legacy of Jesus for the next generation” as we share our journey with Him and tell them how He has guided our path. We are also working on the possibilities of equipping- in bigger and grander ways through trainings:- more young evangelists to go through Cape Town and beyond; touching hearts and lives with the Balm of Gilead. These are but a few of the projects, and we are asking you to pray with us and support these projects.
Now, imagine Jesus walking on this earth, wearing His dirty sandals after long walks along mountain sides, by beaches and streams; under trees and in gardens, sharing the Truth of the Gospel with others. People love Him and they crowd around Him, for in Him they have not only seen the Source of Life, but experienced Life Himself. The sick are healed; the lame walk, the blind see and the dead are raised to life. Does that happen still? You ask. “Absolutely!” is the answer we give. Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever (Hebrews 13:8).
This Man, who is More than a Carpenter, has a deeper perspective on life in totality. His viewpoints on issues that affect humanity transcend our own expectations and are always for our good.
The sick are healed- Yes, we see lots of sick people healed, from drug addictions and all forms of illnesses, but He goes beyond this. He wants to heal the heart. For when the heart is healed, “even though the outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day” (2 Corinthians 4:16).
The lame walk? The feet that trod on roads of lasciviousness are restored to the paths of righteousness and they become feet that go about wearing the gospel of peace, sharing the Good News that has redirected their feet. These feet are equipped and strengthened enough to be made fit to run the race for the Kingdom.
The blind see? Indeed! The eyes stop seeing things and begin to behold visions. These are visions of His glory, His character, His love, His majesty and His presence in life.
The dead are raised to life? Yes. Consciences that were once dead to trespasses are brought back to life and the discernment sharpened with the Sword of the Spirit to be able to not only distinguish between right and wrong, but to choose right because it is right. (2 Corinthians 5:17).
EVANGELIVING! That’s the lifestyle that our Father is calling us to. Conferences come and go each year, but Evangeliving remains our lifestyle till Jesus comes! “The Savior devoted more time and labor to healing the afflicted of their maladies than to preaching. His last injuction to His disciples, His representatives on earth, was to lay hands on the sick that they might recover. When the Master shall come, He will commend those who have visited the sick and relieved the necessities of the afflicted. The tender sympathies of our Savior were aroused for fallen and suffering humanity. If you would be His followers, you must cultivate compassion and sympathy. Indifference to human woes must give place to lively interest in the sufferings of others. The widow, the orphan, the sick and the dying, will always need help. Here is an opportunity to proclaim the Gospel- to hold up Jesus, the hope and consolation of all men.” (Counsels on Health, Ch.9).
What a great calling to this lifestyle that He makes possible! Join in Evangeliving.
Unto this generation He has spoken
In sending His Son Jesus to mend hearts broken;
Unto us the Great Mystery revealed,
A Saviour descending upon us to heal.
